Rationale for documentary

The documentary I will be conducting is based on the music of Manchester within the 80’s and 90’s. I will be filming various different scenes and conducting many different interviews, such as human-interest interviews, witness interviews and maybe expert interviews. One of the interviews I will be conducting is with my older sister Kimberley; this will be filmed in her home with good lighting and no echoing so the footage is suitable, I will be asking her various questions such as ‘what influenced you to listen to the music that you listen to?’ and many other different questions which you will see in the documentary, Along with many other different interviews with many different people. I will be visiting the city of Manchester and filming some of the well-known clubs and places of the 80’s and 90’s such as where the hacienda was, Salford lads club and various other different places.  This is to show the type of places that were big in them years and where most famous groups started off.  I will be highlighting many different aspects of music, and how it influences people and why they choose to listen to what they listen to. I will be using various different types of camera shots/angles such as close ups, long shots and medium shots as well as many others, I will be doing this to put across my knowledge ad understanding of various different ways to use the camera.

There will be many different codes and conventions, which I will be using in my documentary. The first one being a voice over, I will be using a voice over within my documentary to explain different things whilst showing observational footage, I also may use a voice over in my interview and be showing different types of footage of different relevant places whilst interviewing to give the viewers a deeper understanding.
Another code and convention I will be using within my documentary will be observational footage, I will be using this for many reasons one being cut-aways, and I will be showing various different places within Manchester and inserting this into my documentary. I may also be able to pick up footage from back in the day and also insert this into my documentary.
I will also be conducting interviews, which is another code and convention for my documentary, I will be conducting human-interest interviews, and possibly witness interviews depending on which people allow the interview to take place. I will be conducting these interviews within my documentary because they will be interesting to the audience, and it is also a good code and convention to use within a documentary.
There will also be many other different codes and conventions what will be used within my documentary which may be improvised when making my documentary.

When making this documentary I will be professional and impartial, meaning that I will not judge anybody I interview or anybody who is taking part in my documentary on their taste of music and opinions. Within my documentary I will also be non-biased which means when conducting the interviews I will take their answer into consideration and not contribute myself with any personal opinion, thoughts or views. Whilst making this documentary I will also be balanced to those who are taking part in my documentaries meaning I will be highlighting all different sides in order to be balanced to everybody. For example if asking the question ‘who influenced you to listen to the music you do’ I will not subject them into telling me an answer what isn’t right, and I will also ask them other different questions so all the questions aren’t subjected to just one thing.
