Music research!

Rock music.

Rock music is a type of popular music in the United states in the 1950's which then developed into many different styles in the 1960's. the genre of rock and roll is heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music.  As time went on rock music started to change into more modern rock, for example 'The beetles'  they started in 1960 as a small band and in 1962 and grew all over the country (England). A typical rock group normally consists of 5 members. Rock music has many different instruments mainly featuring an electric bass guitar, electric guitar and drums. 

People that listen to rock music normally wear certain types of clothes, for example Mod's and rockers. The rockers was centred on motorcycling and their appearance reflected that. They generally wore protective clothing such as leather jackets and motorcycling boots. 
The mods was associated with amphetamine-fuelled all-night dancing at clubs. They usually dressed in sharp modern italian clothes. 



Indie music.
Indie music is short for independent music this means it is music produced independently from major commercial record labels. Modern indie music can be classed as many different things, for example Oasis are labelled as an indie band, Oasis created their band in 1991, and became very popular over the years, and still to this day everybody knows their songs off by heart, Oasis did many great hits one being 'wonderwall' this was released in October 1995, and people still know most of the words to it. 

People that listen to indie music normally have a certain way of dressing, it is independent from mainstream. People that listen to indie normally tie themselves in with skinny jeans and clothes along the line of 60's . 

Pop music.
Pop music is short for 'popular music' it originated in the 1950's and has been around ever since. Pop music is known for borrowing different styles from other genres of music such as rock, dance, urban and latin never the less there are other elements that define pop music, for example the length of the song are normally short to medium, and they are written in a basic format. 

Pop music is normally known as the top 40 of the week, for example in 2014 it may be 'Taylor swift', Ed sheeran. There are normally labelled as pop music because it is very popular and everybody knows it. 
There are many types of pop, one being "pure pop" music, such as power pop which has been described as mixture of hard rock and melodic pop music and tends to be more aggressive than pop. This features all these elements, using electric guitars,drums and bass for instrumentation.

primary research

On my research i was very interested to see what genre of music people listen to, so i set a multiple choice question. I got a variety of results, the biggest choice was 'rock'. Rock music is a form of popular music which evolved from rock and roll and pop music during the mid and late 1960s. And the next biggest result was joint results between RnB, chart and an option i called 'other'. these genres of music are more popular types of music and more recent for example an RnB artist 50cent. 

For my second question i asked, 'How important is music in your life?' i did this question in the form of a scale, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. and i got a number of results. The highest i got was on 9 and 10, so people think music is very important in their life, nobody said 1 or 2. I went round and asked the people in my class why they told me the result they said, i asked a person what picked 9 and she said its that important because she hears it everywhere, and if your in the mood a song can change your whole day. 

I set this question as a ranking question so people have the choice of putting it in an order of their choice. Many people in this graph chose the car, people may choose this because they use the car to get to places. The second highest was public transport, this may be most likely because most students travel to college on the bus/train. 

I chose to do this question as a multiple choice question, i asked 'Does music influence the way you dress?'. 60% said no and 40%. I asked this question because from my observation some people that listen to rock music mostly wear black, and that ties in with the genre of music. 

I chose to do this last question as an open question, because many people have many different opinions of music, the question i asked i asked was 'is their a certain song in your life what you relate to the most? and why?' and i got many responses, some you can see above, there was no repeated pattern in the songs people chose. 

cut away!

A cut away is a short sequence which can be used for a number of reasons including to mask a shift in time in addition to creating a sense of time and place within a broader sequence. 

Match cut

A match cut is a film editing between either two different objects or two different spaces what link 2 shots together. 

I did this by taking a shot then stopping the camera and doing a different shot.

jump Cut

A jump cut is where you make a transition from another scene to another. You can do this by filming a scene and editing the jump cut.
